Authentic Pioneer Quilts

Each young lady in this image once attended Mill Creek Highs School. Today in this picture they are carrying on a Washington City Pioneer tradition. In this way these women help to preserve a trade that hopefully will never be in the demand that it once was back when Washington City pioneers first arrived to the Souther Utah territories.

Originally these quilts where absolutely priceless in many ways they still are, Washington City Pioneer Quilts were the only things that kept Washington City's pioneer men, women, and children from freezing or catching a then deadly cold; in the few freezing nights of the Washington Utah, pioneer year.

Today they are quilting for friends family and charity. Impoverished youth around the world may not even know that the quilts that have been gifted are made by hand and are authentic to the fashions and techniques used hundreds of years ago. These quilts are exceptional in craftsmanship and spirit and have a quality that can not be replicated; and to some they are still priceless works of art.

One way to help keep in touch with our pioneer history is by actually learning these trades and using them in our lives, some ways to learn them are through things like Mountain Man Rendezvous or primitive skills gatherings like Easter Rendezvous
